Quick Answer
The Brinly LS2-42BH is our pick for most yards: it has six high-velocity brushes, a 20 cu ft hopper, the largest wheels here and a twist-lock brush height adjustment. The Craftsman CMXGZBF45521 matches the 20 cu ft hopper with four 10 inch brushes and an offset hitch. The Agri-Fab 45-0320 has the lowest price for smaller lawns.

A tow-behind lawn sweeper picks up leaves and grass clippings behind a riding mower or lawn tractor, which saves hours of raking in the fall. We compared three 42 inch tow-behind lawn sweepers from Brinly, Agri-Fab and Craftsman.
How We Chose
We picked three well-known lawn and garden brands and matched the size class: all three sweep a 42 inch path and tow behind a riding mower or lawn tractor. They are not identical. The Craftsman is built by Agri-Fab under license from Craftsman, but the two differ in hopper size and brushes. Brinly lists six brushes while the others list four. Agri-Fab’s page does not state a hopper size, so that figure comes from the Amazon listing, as does the Brinly weight; both are marked with an asterisk. Brinly lists the hammered black 42 inch sweeper as LS2-42BH-G, while the Amazon listing reads LS2-42BH-GA. Specs come from each manufacturer’s own product pages, manuals and parts lists, and each card lists the warranty from the manufacturer’s own pages. Prices are the Amazon prices on the date shown.

Brinly LS2-42BH 42-Inch Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper
$369.00 as of Oct 19, 2026, 9:49 pm CT on Amazon · Most brushes, largest wheels
Best for: owners of larger lawns who want six 11 inch brushes and a 20 cu ft hopper
Brinly’s page for the hammered black LS2-42BH-G lists a 42 inch sweep, six high-velocity brushes with an 11 inch diameter, a 5:1 gear ratio, a 20 cu ft polyweave fabric hamper in UV-resistant fabric, 12 by 3 inch semi-pneumatic wheels and a powder coated steel frame. A twist-lock height adjustment holds the brush setting, and you empty the hamper from the tractor seat with the included pull-rope. Brinly lists a maximum tow speed of 5 mph. We like it for heavy leaf drop, because six brushes give the most sweeping contact here.

$399.99 as of Oct 19, 2026, 9:49 pm CT on Amazon · 20 cu ft flow-through hopper
Best for: tractor owners who want a 20 cu ft flow-through hopper and an offset hitch
Craftsman’s page for the CMXGZBF45521 lists a 42 inch sweeper with a 20 cu ft hopper (18 bushels) and 10 inch reinforced brushes, and Agri-Fab’s manual for the model, which Agri-Fab builds under license, shows four brushes, a flow-through hopper bag, an offset hitch you can slide to either end of the housing and a rope to empty the bag from the seat. The manual says not to exceed 6 mph. We like it for sweeping close to beds and fences, because the offset hitch lets the sweeper run beside the tractor’s path.
