A pellet grill burns wood pellets to smoke, grill, and roast with a digital controller. This comparison puts a Pit Boss, a Traeger, and a Weber pellet grill side by side on cooking area, temperature range, hopper size, weight, connectivity, and warranty.

How We Chose

We compared three mid-size wood pellet grills from Pit Boss, Traeger, and Weber, all available on Amazon. We left out the Camp Chef Woodwind because the Amazon offer we found was from a third-party seller, and we left out Pit Boss and Traeger portable models sold by other sellers. The grills are not identical. The Weber costs more than twice the Pit Boss and lists a higher temperature range and connectivity, so the price gap reflects real differences. Each spec cell names its source: the manufacturer’s page where it gave a value, and the Amazon listing where it did not (the Pit Boss weight). Warranty terms come from the manufacturer’s own pages. Traeger’s own pages show two warranty lengths for the Pro 22, and we say so in the table. This is a researched comparison, not a hands-on test, so we make no claims about smoke flavor or how the temperature holds beyond what each listing says. Prices are Amazon prices checked in September 2026 and can change.

Our Take

If price matters most, the Pit Boss is the cheapest and carries a 5 year limited warranty. If weight matters most, the Traeger Pro 22 is the lightest, and the Weber has the biggest hopper at 20 lb. The Weber costs the most and is the only one here that lists a 600°F range and Wi-Fi. Pellet grills need electricity and a steady supply of pellets, so factor those in. Warranty terms differ by component, so read them before you buy. We did not test any of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pellet grill?

A pellet grill feeds wood pellets from a hopper into a fire pot with an electric auger and fan, and a digital controller holds the temperature you set. That lets you smoke at low temperatures and grill at higher ones on the same unit.

Which of these pellet grills has the largest cooking area?

The Weber Searwood 600 has the most at 648 sq in on Weber’s page, then the Traeger Pro 22 at 572 sq in and the Pit Boss 500 FB2 at 518 sq in.

Do these pellet grills have Wi-Fi?

The Weber Searwood 600 lists Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Traeger says the Pro 22 is not equipped with WiFIRE, and Pit Boss’s page does not state Wi-Fi or Bluetooth for the 500 FB2 (it mentions the Pit Boss App).

What warranty do these pellet grills have?

Pit Boss’s page lists a 5 year limited warranty. The Traeger product page lists 7 years, though its warranty page lists 3 years for grills made before October 2021. Weber’s warranty page lists 5 years on the cook box and 3 years on electrical parts, cooking grates, burn pot and heat deflector.
