Campers and hikers are easy to shop for once you know whether they carry everything on their back or drive to the site. Here are six gifts we like, sorted by price, from a water filter and a rocking chair to a sleeping bag, sleeping pads and a power station. Details come from each brand’s page, and each pick links to its warranty terms.
How We Chose
We picked six gifts we like from well-known brands across three price steps: gifts under $100, step-up gifts between $175 and $240, and one big gift. They are different kinds of products, so this is a list of ideas by budget and not a side-by-side of equivalent models. Specs come from each manufacturer’s page where it gave one, and we say so in the text. Warranty terms come from the manufacturer’s own website where it names the model or product line, and we say so where it gives no length. Prices are Amazon prices checked in October 2026 and can change.

If the budget is small, we would go with the Sawyer filter for a hiker and the GCI rocker for someone who car camps. For a step-up gift, the Therm-a-Rest is our pick for a backpacker who counts ounces, the Kelty is our pick for someone who sleeps cold, and the NEMO is our pick for someone who camps into the cooler months. The Jackery is the splurge at 23.8 lb, so it suits car camping and not the trail.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good gift for a camper or hiker?
We would match the gift to the budget. Under $100, we like the Sawyer SP129 Squeeze water filter kit ($45.95) and the GCI Outdoor Freestyle Rocker ($80.00). Our step-up picks are the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite NXT MAX ($192.84), the Kelty Cosmic 20 Down ($189.95) and the NEMO Tensor All-Season ($229.95), and the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 ($499.00) is the big gift. Prices were checked October 12, 2026.
What are good camping gifts under $100?
As of October 12, 2026, the Sawyer SP129 Squeeze kit is $45.95 and the GCI Outdoor Freestyle Rocker is $80.00. We would give the Sawyer to someone who hikes and the rocker to someone who camps from a car.
What should I buy for a camper who already has a tent?
We would look at sleep and comfort. A good sleeping pad or bag changes a night outside, and the Therm-a-Rest and NEMO pads cover warm and cooler months while the Kelty bag adds a 20°F down option. Ask which size the person uses, because both pads here are the Regular Wide.
Where do I find the warranty for each gift?
Each card links to the brand’s own warranty page. GCI Outdoor lists a 3 year warranty on its product page, and the other brands point to their own pages for terms. Terms can differ by seller and region, so confirm before you buy.
