Our process

How We Review

How we research, and what our two labels tell you.

Every guide on Inside Out Home Reviews carries one of two labels, so you always know what you are reading. Here is what each label means and how we pick what goes in a guide.

Researched comparison

We compile specifications, prices, and warranty terms from Amazon listings and manufacturer pages, line the products up side by side, and flag anything that is not an apples to apples match. We have not used these products ourselves, so we do not make claims about performance, comfort, or durability beyond what the listing states.

Hands-on tested

We bought or borrowed the product and used it. These guides include our own photos, measurements, and notes, and they say what we did and how long we used it. A guide only gets this label when the testing has actually happened. No guide carries this label yet: every guide today is a researched comparison.

How we choose products

  • We only include products from established, well-known brands, not anonymous listings with unfamiliar company names.
  • We match sizes and specs where we can. When a perfect match is not possible, the guide says so plainly.
  • We only state specs that the listing gives, and we mark anything else as not stated.
  • Prices and sellers on Amazon change, so we date every price and ask you to confirm the price and seller on the listing before you buy.

What we look at when we test

When a guide is labeled Hands-on tested, we record the same things for every product so the comparison stays fair:

  • Setup or assembly time and how clear the instructions are
  • Build quality, materials, and fit and finish
  • Real measurements and weight compared with the listing
  • Performance at the task the product is meant for
  • Ease of use, storage, and cleaning
  • Price against what you get, and the warranty

Prices, updates, and affiliate links

Prices and availability change, so treat the prices in our guides as a snapshot from the date shown at the top of each guide. We use affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Commissions do not decide which products we include or how we describe them.
